Wrightsville Beach

I am the world's slowest blogger. these are random pictures of a trip we took to the beach back in July when my dad and family came to visit.

woo hoo...

its official, I am a soccer mom!! enough of the art classes, ballet, cheerleading! we are finally dealing with a ball and a real sport.
both girls are involved in an outdoor fall league. obviously i think i like it more than they do. they've both survived 2 games so far. a little complaining and a statement by Sophia that cracks me up and worries me a tad, "Mom, soccer is just not my thing! I'm an artist and a dancer."
its true she may only have 2 athletic bones in her body. she does a lot of whiffing the ball when she tries to kick it, she throws like a girl, and trips over the ball a lot! but she can run, she has athletic genes, and i'm dying to convert her : )
i highly doubt i'll be successful and i'm sure i'll find myself at some dance recital next year but right now i'm enjoying the spot on the field.
now logann isn't as much of a long shot. she is naturally athletic. she can kick the ball, throw the ball, run fast, but man that girl is lazy and always complaining of being tired, hot, or bored. she cries every week about not wanting to go, she tells me she hates soccer! this week on the way there i think i got her attention when i told her if she practiced hard she could make a lot of money playing soccer when she gets big! she seemed to change her tune after that. she is always looking for a way to make a dollar.
alright so i admit it, i'm being selfish, attempting to shape my girls. ultimately they'll win and thats ok.

the windy city

just arrived in chicago for a photography training seminar this weekend. its all about photographing newborns, talk about baby fix! 2 full days of teeny tiny little baby parts. i'm so excited! there are only 10 of us here so i'm hoping to really learn a lot!
just realizing as we were landing at O'Hare, its been a long time since I've been this far North! seem to only travel south lately. a little culture shock coming here tonight, forgot what its like in a big city. i think i've slowed down living in the South. people seem to move so much faster here and they are rude! every man for himself here : ) no sir or mam
had an amazing view of downtown chicago and the burbs as we landed. we were 2 hours late so it was dark by the time we arrived. the delay was forgiven though by the incredible show of lights of the city. i can not believe how cool it looked. and how big it is! not going to see anything of chicago on this trip but hoping to come back soon.

2 Cuties

playing outside yesterday and had to grab my camera. logann is sooo into having her picture taken and also taking photos. she already has a photographer's vocabulary its hysterical.
sophia's not so fond of it, but once and awhile she'll comply half-heartedly. she really has no interest in it though.
we did a little school shopping at my new favorite store, Crazy 8 its owned by Gymboree. so stinking cute.
notice logann's shirt says Girls Rock! i bought it for Phia but she refused to wear it to school because she said the boys will tease her for it. Yesterday I tried to dress her in a shirt that had 2 cute birds and underneath it said love birds. NO WAY major veto. what has first grade done to my child. logann at least thinks they are cool. luckily they wear the same size

delivery

this afternoon i heard someone in the driveway and asked logann to look to see who it was.
"oh mom its just that brown p.u.s. truck!"
we have developed quite a relationship with p.u.s. always getting photos delivered.
logann and her backwardness cracked me up.

My favorites

The girls are so artistic. So much more than I am already!
These are two of my recent favorites. The plate is Sophia's I bought the plate as a kit with markers. I just handed it to her and within 5 mins. she had come up with all of this. I didn't even know what she was writing!I have it displayed in my kitchen its a keeper for sure.
The cat is Logann's drawing she handed me yesterday. Its totally on a scrap piece of paper but I think it is so cute! and her best work of art so far.
It has made its way to the fridge. And then off to her art portfolio.
Sophia has been sooo sick today, throwing up and fever. Logann and I destroyed the house with all Sophia's presents. Lots of art projects and crafty things to play with. Poor Sophia tried her hand at the Bendaroos but couldn't lift her head off the pillow. I swear though we could open a Michael's Craft store we have so much stuff.

Sophia's Birthday Party

I definitely made a wise move this year by having Sophia's party outside of my home or pool! It was sooo easy! All I did was show up with the gift bags. One of her classmate's mom bakes cakes so she brought the cake. It was a lot of relaxed fun yesterday for all!

Sophia's new friend Jessica made her the sweetest card! She read it aloud to Sophia and I almost cried and laughed at the same time. It was so cute, it read "Happy Birthday Sophia, I bet it is the best day of your life! You are six years old! wow! enjoy your day"

Logann playing with her future boyfriend Simon! She loves him and always says she is going to marry him and his little brother Spencer too. Simon lives 2 houses down. He is the son of a fertility specialist(dad) and Harvard Law grad(mom), I'm ready to sign the paperwork on this arranged marriage today. Not too mention most importantly he is the sweetest, cutest, little guy around.

Happy Birthday Sophia

My little girl turned 6 yesterday! where does the time go? I can't beleive how grown up she seems!
To celebrate I took the girls both to get their nails done while I had a manicure. After that we went to Sophia' favorite restaurant, The Golden Corral, yuck!
Actually its not too bad here in NC it all tastes good going down and then ten mins. later you feel like crap.
After lunch we went to an arcade/mini golf/go cart place. Unfortunately they were doing a state inspection on the outdoor attractions so everything was closed, but we had lots of fun inside.
We ended the day at the pool and then snuggled and watched a movie before bed.
Tomorrow she has her friend party at Hopper's House a bounce house place.
